The plot is located in a very strategic location and a well-developed area with all the facilities needed around the site from hospitals to retail on the East of the site and countless historical landmarks surrounding the site. Many date farms are located around as well in which you can get fresh dates from.
Vernacular features: vertical massing with wooden structure frame and stylistic elements. The use of traditional Arabic motifs and calligraphy onto the wall and as window ornaments.
Urban context: The traditional close alignment of buildings protects them from the low sun during the afternoons well as helping to cool down temperature due to the shading from the compact building arrangement.
The courtyard: The main objective of designing courtyards arrives form the cool air ventilation at day and night in residential houses which promotes a natural cooling ventilation system for interior spaces of the house. The courtyard floor and the interior spaces of the house stay warm during the day (when the sun hits the floor of the courtyard) and allow the cool air to circulate throughout the house before being released during sunset. In Al Madinah Hotel, cool air ventilation helps visitors to enjoy from the fresh natural air during the day and night while providing a green and pleasant overview for patients.
